Hello Friends, I know – this is my second post related to the topic of the impending new year. I admit I am feeling a little more obsessed than usual about the coming jump into a new year/decade. Many of you may be feeling the same way, especially as writers. We can often feel weakened by the seeming writing superpowers of other writers.
There is something about this precipice in time when we look back at all that has transpired, before we take the leap into all that can be. Personally, at my age, it has become a necessity to “take stock”, so to speak, and in a serious way. Given my family history, it is possible there is only so much time left. I don’t want to continue wasting it and letting things slip away in the goals department. I have a lot of crap to get done, before I am done.
So, as I feel the dramatic suction of the time vortex known as New Year’s Day drawing my atoms through the portal of a new beginning, I am compelled by some primitive need to develop a last minute strategy for the coming year, if not the decade. Especially since I have never been any good at the whole “Where do you see yourself in ten years?” guessing game.
Here is the breakdown of my slow-mo leap from 2019 to 2020. The before and after look before I commit and take the plunge to the otherside:
OK – This does not look like much but is already an improvement to “operating by the seat of my pants”. I have a plan. A mini plan, but hey, you have to start somewhere, right? Write. Focus and planning seem to be the best tools of successful writers. My best efforts this year will be to begin to better emulate and create habits that will help push my writing goals in the right direction.
What are your writing plans for 2020? Do you have big things on the horizon? Drop a note below and let me know. 😊
