Hello Everyone,
I had the honor of being selected to author Sacha Black’s street team and granted an advanced reader copy of “The Anatomy of Prose”. First, I want to say it takes a brave and knowledgeable writer to take on such a huge and wiggly topic as how to improve something that is very subjective from one writer to the next. Never fear, Sacha Black is the author for the job!
I wanted to share my review of what I found to be a brilliant writing craft book that is written as a casual discussion between friends. Full of powerful information that can be used immediately. It is intelligent but relayed in easy and entertaining terms. No English degree required!

MY REVIEW:
An empowering writing craft book for writers of all levels!
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Ms. Black is a guiding light in what can be a raging sea of uncertainty…nah…more like a best buddy with a huge flashlight leading the way through a haunted house.
Yes!
Where do I begin on the brilliance of this book? In The Anatomy of Prose, Sacha Black breaks down the fine intricacies of how to choose and use the words, sentences, phrases, descriptions that build every aspect of your story in the most effective ways possible.
This is not a book of rules, as she tells you from the very start of the book. She is a rebellious writer by nature, compelled to ‘break it, burn it and disolve it into ash and dust.’ – when it comes to a rule. This book does, however, deliver brilliant insight on the best practices a writer can use to transform ‘not bad’ prose to the next level, and then the next. Prose that not only affects the reader on an emotional level, but is remembered long after the book is closed.
Sacha Black fully explains different writing devices and how to apply them. She uses entertaining, down-to-earth language to speak to her readers in a way that kept me engaged and coming back for more of her writing know-how. Ms. Black provides numerous examples and exercises to help the reader(writer) easily understand and implement a multitude of complex methods to pump up your prose for different types of storytelling, world building, characters, dialogue, and scenes. Clearly showing how even small adjustments and nuances can make a huge impact on the reader’s perceptions and commitment to the story and characters. I really love how she combines technical writing aspects with the psychology behind what appeals to the reader on a subconscious level.
This book is cram-packed with information any writer on any level can find genius nuggets to increase the beauty of their writing art. Another homerun writing craft book from the unequaled Sacha Black. I highly recommend The Anatomy of Prose!!
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Sacha Black

Sacha Black has five obsessions; words, expensive shoes, conspiracy theories, self-improvement, and breaking the rules. She also has the mind of a perpetual sixteen-year-old, only with slightly less drama and slightly more bills.
Sacha writes books about people with magical powers and other books about the art of writing. She lives in Hertfordshire, England, with her wife and genius, giant of a son.
When she’s not writing, she can be found laughing inappropriately loud, blogging, sniffing musty old books, fangirling film and TV soundtracks, or thinking up new ways to break the rules.
