What Matters Most – (A poem excerpt)

On a tender summer morning,

perfect air brushing my cheeks,

sun drop cresting the  mountaintop,

I knew best, what mattered most to me

were things I chose to speak of least

Those I could not afford to be

judged, abused, or taken by hearts

tethered with bitter veins.
