Sassy & Kick-assy
Like the hero’s and heroines from movies she loves to quote, Matti Baker is an over-the-top knockout, super kick-butt spy/assassin, and international woman of intrigue. A female Tom Cruise (Jack Reacher), kicking butt and spilling guts all around the globe. This is a fun, fast-paced and high octane book.
Though Matti Baker is comparable to exaggerated movie characters types like Jack Reacher or John Wick, Michele Packard has also made her ultra relatable with true to life relationships, family history and female work-life balance issues, etc.
I loved Matti’s no-nonse, quick thinking, independent personality and snarkiness (relatable!). She had me chuckling with her thoughts on some of the people she had to deal with in her work. Movie quotes and references are great as a major quirk of her personality. Loved the whirlwind love affair. Talk about a pair of opposites who are the perfect balance. I won’t blow all the juicy details.
Suffice to say, mature readers will get the greatest kick out of this highly entertaining story. The characters are well developed, the writing has a quick “easy-read” beat that doesn’t drag. You will enjoy this book if you like action-adventures, espionage, intrigue, weapons, kicking-butt, supermodel spies (like Charlie’s Angels), swearing and alcohol. Adult stuff. Heck yeah!!
